they get their water from streams, snow, and rain
All river water comes from rain or snow (or hail) precipitation, Which comes from clouds, which comes from water bodies which are filled from rivers and rain or snow (or hail) precipitation, etc.
Water can change in many ways. It can come out of the sky as rain, hail or snow. It can become a lake, ocean, river or any other form of body of water.
Usually a high source of water such as a lake or river high in the mountains that comes from snow melting.
Generally, the source is melting snow and ice, rain can be a source too.
The water that seeps into the ground after it precipitates is called ground water.
what does the moisture near the Great Lakes do to the amount of snow that falls there called "lake effect snow"
After a heavy rain, or in the spring when the snow melts.
The point at which a river forms is called a river source. The source may be from a spring, melted snow from a mountain top, or a lake with a stream flowing out from it.
Lake effect snow is driven by the instability caused by cold air flowing over a much warmer body of water. In the summer, the air moving over the lakes is generally considerably warmer, which doesn't generate that instability. In the fall, these same places do start to get lake effect rain as the colder air flows over the still-warm lakes, but the air is not quite cold enough to produce snow down to the surface.
The 4 main precipitaions are rain, hail, sleek and snow
