I think zoos are a good intention but bad idea. First, let look at the bad idea. The fact is, animals in captivity are sometime more aggressive then there wild counterparts. Additionally, captive animals are not able to return to the wild without extensive rehabilitation and there are still no guarantees. In addition to that, they are very costly. Some zoos, are public domain and are often sponsored by tax-dollars and when they are not they are costs of admission and these costs are often very high.

But, there are some positive sides to zoos. First, zoos allow zoologists to study animals in unique ways. They can observe there eating behaviors, they can learn their medical Biology (meaning they can learn how heal fix problems the animal might face and then apply similar treatment to animals in the wild if need be). They can teach animals to while learn. Primates (monkeys and gorillas) for example, have known to read, I think heard one could write or draw. One research noticed a distinctive vocal pattern then let her know they was being feed. In an addition to that, and perhaps the most important is we have managed to prevent several animals species from going extinct.

Anyway, I hope I answered your question and let anyone who thinks they can answer better please improve on my answer. Also please for give my grammar and misspelled or misused words. I hope you understood. Thanks.

Why zoos are a good thing for animals?

Sometimes zoos are very good for the animals and give the whole species a last chance. Conservation is one of the things that zoos do to help the animal species survive. This brings me to the five main reasons why we have zoos. They are conservation, reproduction, education, research and recreation. Conservation is breeding, rescuing, finding homes for, and preserving threatened or endangered species. A zoo that does this hard task extremely well is the Buffalo Zoo.
