The complex was extended and renamed Temple of Heaven during the reign of the Jiajing Emperor in the 16th century. The Jiajing Emperor also built three other prominent temples in Beijing, the Temple of Sun in the east (日坛), the Temple of Earth in the north (地坛), and the Temple of Moon in the west (月坛). The Temple of Heaven was renovated in the 18th century under the Qianlong Emperor.

The Forbidden City is located directly in the center of Beijing China. Also it is where all of the emperors lived. It's a replica of the Purple Palace where the legend supposedly has it that he had it in a dream and the God in Heaven lived there. It's called the Forbidden City because lower class people weren't allowed in and only the emperor, his family, servants, and helpers lived in the Forbidden City and it's not really a city it's just a couple of palaces. It's has 8,886 rooms in it and lots of palaces/buildings. That is what the Forbidden City is. I hope this answers your questions. :)
The temple of Heaven in sims 3 is in China.
