There are currently no native crocodiles in the Mediterranean, but, in antiquity, the Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) inhabited the Nile Delta and the Zarqa River in Jordan, so it seems likely that they would have occasionally been found on the shores of Egypt and Palestine.
