Malaysia is a Tropical nation, bless with rainfall almost all year round except a few Northern states in Peninsular i.e Perlis and Kedah. All other states in the peninsular and Borneo Island i.e Sabah and Sarawak can be considered wet states especially during monsoon seasons.

Logically, Malaysia should not has water problem unlike the desert nations, the real problem is raw water or freshwater resources problems. Catchment basins reserve by the governments usually are not treated with respect by greedy individuals whom sees forest as gold mines of tropical hardwoods. Likewise are the rivers and tributaries are treated like dumpsites to dispose garbage.

Education and enforcement are two vital approach to change the mindset of its people so that the understanding of essential link between polluted water resources, potable water, flood woes and good management go hand in hand.

Current SituationDuring the elections, the Barisan Nasional(leading party) has promised to improve the water supply and distribution in Borneo Island(Sabah & Sarawak) to 70%.
