Palisade
It makes it more difficult for enemies to reach the castle
Burn it down.
Berkhamsted Castle is a good example of a motte and bailey castle where the original wooden defences were later rebuilt in stone.
On Motte and Bailey castles the wooden fence is called a palisade.
the nights
a sturdy wooden fence used for a fortification.
Because it has a better defense and it is much stronger
A wooden Castle could be burned down by attackers and occasionally by accident.
yes but it was originly a wooden motte and baily
It was only a square keep castle which was not the most up to date one which therefore meant it didn't have some of the good lines of defence it could have had. It also had wooden girders - stilt type things that were under the ground to hold it up. Attackers could dig underneath the castle and burn all the girders down so that the whole castle cam down and was destroyed. That would kill everyone in the castle so it was a very good method of attack. Hope this helped :)
