The biggest problem museums face today is funding. While the economy is in decline (or even a tentative incline) it is hard to get people to donate to museums, or to have visitors pay admission fees simply for the pleasure of wandering a museum. Another big problem that museums face today is technology. Many museums are digitizing their collections and putting them on their websites in an effort to increase access to them. This is a double-edged sword though, because if people can look online to view the same things they could view in person, many people don't see the point of actually going to the museum. Technology also poses a problem for museums in that modern people seek to use technology as often as they can. Museums are often viewed as low-tech, and thus don't appeal as widely to young people. When they rush to integrate technology in their exhibits, mistakes can be made.
