A watershed is an area of land where all the water that falls as precipitation collects and drains into a common outlet, such as a river, lake, or ocean. It essentially acts as a funnel for water flow, influencing local ecosystems and water quality. A delta, on the other hand, is a landform that forms at the mouth of a river where it meets a body of water, such as an ocean or lake, and sediment is deposited as the river's flow slows down. This accumulation of sediment often creates fertile land and diverse habitats.
A nested watershed is simply a watershed within a watershed. An example might be the Platte River watershed which is a nested watershed within the Missouri River watershed which in turn is nested within the Mississippi River watershed.
