The Geronimo carving next to Mount Rushmore is being created by sculptor and artist John Lopez. This project aims to honor the legacy of the Apache leader Geronimo and is part of a larger effort to recognize Native American history and contributions. The carving is still in progress and seeks to complement the iconic Mount Rushmore monument.
