desert tortoises do take care of there babbies becaus any thing can eat them.
Best left to a gunsmith.
I don't know why anyone would want to take a tumbleweed out of the desert. When dry, they are nasty to deal with and a fire hazard. However, if tumbleweeds are your thing, help yourself.
There is no such thing as a 'desert season.' A desert is a desert all seasons of the year.
The best thing that can be done for deserts is for man to stop trashing them. When driving in the desert, stay on approved roads and do not go cross country on your ATV, dirt bike or 4WD. It tears up the habitat for animals and plants and can take centuries to heal. The desert is actually quite fragile. Deserts should not be used as a garbage dump. Trash is unsightly and a hazard for man, plants and animals. Dumping used oil in the desert is also a no-no. Oil is toxic to both plants and animals and does nothing to beautify the desert. The best thing man can do is leave the desert alone and enjoy it for its rugged, harsh beauty.
If you are stranded in the desert, the best thing to do for water is to drink your own pee. i know it sounds nasty but it is the truth.
Of course it is a dry desert. There is no such thing as a wet desert. A desert is defined by its lack of rainfall.
Water is scarce in a desert.

Ha-ha, not easy, but if you knew where your relative position was the best thing would probably to head towards the coast (which ever was the closest). The thing that you wouldn't want to do is travel south, this would only take you deeper in to hostile terrain with few signs of civilization.
Almost any carnivore or omnivore will take advantage of a free meal in the desert. Probably vultures are the best known but foxes, bobcats, bears, cougars, coyotes and many other animals will take advantage of a dead animal in the desert.
