There really is no lake in the desert. In some parts of the Atacama there are some ancient salares which are dried salt lakes. However, they rarely have any water. There are also a few volcanic mineral springs and geysers but would be unsuitable for bathing, drinking or fishing because of their high temperature and mineral content.

Lake Chad is the only freshwater lake in the desert. Rivers once ran through the Sahara. We know this because dried up riverbeds, called wadis, still exist. When it does rain in the desert, these wadis fill up with water and become active rivers for a short time.
The mineral produced at Lake Grassmere in Marlborough is salt. Lake Grassmere is a natural salt evaporation pond where seawater is evaporated to produce the salt.
