There have been many conflicts between Greece and Mediterranean nations. One of the most historical is when Rome became the leading power in the area and threatened Greece through war.
After the Third Punic War, Rome became the new leading power in the Mediterranean. This threatened Greece because Rome was intent on expanding into Greek land.
during the hellenistic age, rome emerged as a powerful new state. after its conquest of asia minor in 133bc, it replace greece as the dominant power in the mediterranean world
The defeat of Troy opened Asia Minor up to further Greek expansion and influence. It also established Greece as the dominant power in the Mediterranean at that time.

The Romans soon took over Greece adding Roman gods with greek gods sharing sacred temples. The Romans adapted the Greek culture and also brought in western culture too.
