As a life long graphic artist, I can say for certain, the closest readily accessible font that can be purchased on many font web pages is called Trajan Pro (named after Roman Emporer, Trajan). That said, however, I came to this page searching for the difinitive typeface used because there are some subtle, yet significant differences between Trajan Pro and the memorial typeface. Namely, the W in the memorial font has center bars that cross, forming a miniature 'x' if you will. I am still searching the answer whether Trajan Pro was modeled after it, or vise-versa. Likely, (I must speculate) some custom lettering is involved in the memorial text. The other scenario is Trajan Pro could have been designed based on a previously designed typeface and simplified to avoid any copyright infringements or simply to make it more compatible for use as a digital font for computer use. If I finally come to any conclusions, I will return to edit/add to this post.
