Mosque is not the thing that is build for monument, it is a place of worship like church or any other place where people gather to pray.
The most famous monument in Pakistan is Minar-e-Pakistan. Minar-e-Pakistan is constructed at the exact location where Pakistan resolution was passed in 1940.
Some would call it a monument, in that it is named for the founder of the UAE, Shaikh Zayed, and his tomb (a very simple one) lies just within the mosque enclosure. Others might argue that the UAE is his monument.
The Esperanto words for church and mosque are pregejo and moskeo.
