When did Auguste Bartholdi create the statue of Liberty?

The statue was delivered to the American ambassador in Paris on July 4th, 1884.

It was taken apart, crated and finally arrived in New York in June of 1885.

The French paid to ship it over, but the US had to pay to have a pedestal built.

Times were tough and it took awhile to raise the money via private funds drives.

The pedestal was completed in April of 1886 and the statute was completely set up and dedicated October 28,1886.

The statue was built for Abdul Hamid pasha of the Ottoman Empire and paid by the pasha in full to be put up at the port of Alexandria Egypt facing the west and the name was "THE LIGHT OF EAST" holding a light not a torch when finished and sent to Egypt the Pasha din'd not like it and was sent back to France to the sculpture for changes , at same time the friendship between Turkey and France gone bad because of a ban publications in a French newspaper about the prophet Muhammad and the statue set in a warehouse for almost 30 years , when the Americans decided to have a statue made the sculpture said i have one you can have as a gift all i need is a month to make the changes to what we have now.
