dependent on the opinion of the person there are two sets of answers.

FIRST ANSWER:

1.) First there is a belief of scientific theory....!Earth had to be eather burnning hot, and once it was cooled down there were gases that were released and by some chance of probability, hydrogen and oxygen came togeher thus forming "H2O" also known as "water"; 2.) Or, the Earth had to be freezing ice cold subzeo tempiture; colder than Vostok Station in Antarctica with an elevation of around 11,500' not only colder than the South Pole, but is considered the coldest place on Earth with an average temperature of -67F. However according to climent change ice begain to melt transforming into H2O; and salt generally is from granite rock." Put granite and water together what do you get ?"

SECOND ANSWER:

1.) There is also the belief of creationism.....! in which there is higher power in charge. During creation water was of the surface before earth. Water was gathered together unto one place, and dry land appeared, thus calling water gathered together in one place Sea (also known as Ocean) and land Earth.

I do not believe the comet theory, there would be obvious signs elsewhere to conclude this.I DO believe because of magnetic changes in our solar system and Sun effects the cycle of things. I also believe the Earth's core can swell because of these changes indirectly having the effect of pushing water levels up to catastrophic levels.

I gree with the above. The core swells pushing water levels high.
