Well Christians believe as the Book of the Acts of the Apostles, better known as Book of Acts, tells us that it was the Jesus' disciples that first spread the word of Jesus in Jerusalem and Judea. Then persecution of these early believers helped to scatter them to other areas, and they were the ones to carry the message of Jesus from there to the Mediterranean area and beyond.
Of course the Apostle Paul and his co-workers were also very instrumental in carrying the word of Jesus to much of this region as well.

Well... If you are talking about a person then a Mediterranean is someone who is from that area of the world around the Mediterranean sea. If you are talking about a place then it would be the large sea that is South of Europe and North of Africa. Beyond that I don't have the foggiest!
