Finn MacCool is said to have built it.
According to an ancient legend, Giants Causeway which is located in Ireland, is said to have been built by a giant named Fionn Mac Cumhaill.. It is in fact a natural occurrence that was caused by a volcanic eruption.
There are many legends of Finn McCool, the most popular one being the one about the Giants Causeway. Finn McCool was an Irish giant that lived in the county of Antrim. One day he got into a fight with a giant from Scotland. Depending on who's telling the story, either Finn or the Scottish giant (Fingal?) built a bridge made of hexagon shaped rocks to connect Ireland and Scotland so they could fight each other. When Finn saw Fingal he realized he could not beat this bigger giant, so he decided to out smart him. He wrapped himself up in a blanket and lay down in a crib. When Fingal arrived at Finn's home he was told by Finn's wife that her husband was not home but he could wait for him to return shortly. Fingal stepped inside the cottage, took one look at the baby in the crib and said " if that is Finn's son laying in the crib Imagine how big the father is". Fingal decided to beat a hasty retreat back to Scotland tearing up the Giant's causeway as he went. The myth is an old tale that explains how "The Giant's Causeway" a rocky outcrop of the cost of Antrim near the town of Bushmill was created.
The Giant's Causeway is important to the people of Ireland due to its unique geological formations that are a significant tourist attraction and point of national pride. It holds cultural and mythological significance in Irish folklore, as it is said to be the work of the giant Finn McCool. Additionally, it is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, further highlighting its importance.
