Well, he has a HUGE impact on people who had a fishing profession. He was supposed to be the guardian of the seas, so sailors and fisherman prayed and worshipped him. He also had an affect on the Romans, who hated to sail across the oceans, so they despised poseidon. So he mostly had an affect on fisherman and sailors, or soldiers going on a voyage.
