Why are there cities along the nile river?

Another reason would be because the Nile River had a good natural barrier which was the Libyan Desert, the Arabian Desert, and the Nubian Desert because of the extreme hot and dry weather, many people avoided the deserts, but it protected the people who lived in the Nile River valley.

The Nile River as well had a fresh water source in an area that was mostly desert. It provided natural irrigation and fertilization. And every Summer, the river overflowed its banks, the soaked the dry ground, and after several weeks, the water went down and then a ribbon of rich soil was left behind which was perfect for farming.
