In the Ming dynasty, Emperor Ming conquered many enemies and turned them into slaves. The mongols of the north theartened to overun the Chinese by their sheer numbers and so, Emperor Ming forced the slaves to build a wall so large that the Mongolians would have to climb it in order to get through. It would be 15 horses thick, 120 ft high, and 1500 miles long, streching across Ming's portion of China. The project took 57 years. Any slave or worker who died was buried under the establishment as the Chinese believed they would guard the wall form evil spirits. Emperor Qian finished the project(Ming died 22 years before completion).

The actual labor of building the Great Wall of China was done by soldiers, criminals, and common people. It took millions of labors to build the wall. Criminals were forced to build the wall as punishment and common people were forced at times to work on the wall, including children.
The Great Wall of China was built by soldiers, peasants, and criminals who were ordered by Emperor Qin Shihuang to be built.
Qin Shihuangdi had farmers stop they're work and build the Great Wall of China
First it has protected Chinese people for centuries. Because in the ancient time, Chinese people in the northern part were frequently attacked by the Huns (a minority whose people were very good at riding and lived to the north of China). With the help of the Great Wall, Chinese warriors were more likely to protect their land and people. Secondly, the Great Wall's birth was created by Chinese people's wisdom and the hard work. To an extent, the Great Wall forced the technology to develop and then to serve the building process. Thirdly, in my opinion, the Great Wall also brought a negative impact on Chinese people. Thinking about the protection of the Great Wall, sometimes Chinese people relied too much on it and therefore they did not pay much attention to training the army but focus on the entertainments. But after all, the Great Wall is China's pride. It units them. You can find the "Great Wall" in China's national anthem.
