Its from the water level. The water use to be as high as the lines but due to drought it caused the water to sink but they eroded(left the lines) into the walls before the water reached were it is now. Better answer.

The horizontal lines are layers of sedimentary rock laid down at different geological times. Vertical lines are from wind and water erosion.

Is it illegal to bungee jump off the Grand Canyon?

i am pretty shure it is from the skywalk in the middle of the canyon, definite yes, but there are small canyons that are part of the Grand Canyon system such as Marble Canyon where you can jump from the Navajo Bridge -- not part of the main canyon that most people think of as the Grand Canyon but it's about a 200 foot drop between narrow canyon walls and that may suffice.

Would the contour lines of the grand canyon be spaced out or close together?

The contour lines of the Grand Canyon would likely be spaced closer together due to its steep and rugged terrain. The closer spacing of contour lines indicates a quicker change in elevation, reflecting the dramatic topography of the canyon.

What was the process of erosion for the grand canyon?

The Grand Canyon was formed through a process of erosion by the Colorado River over millions of years. The river gradually cut through layers of rock to create the steep walls of the canyon. Additionally, factors such as weathering, rockfalls, and the force of gravity also contributed to the erosion of the canyon.
