This is just a thought. Perhaps it is called Wizard island because its shape resembles the shape of a wizards hat. Just a thought.
Wizard Island is located in Crater Lake, Oregon. The volcanic cone is long dormant, but some hydrothermal activity at the bottom of Crater Lake has been detected, which suggests that the mountain is still active.
The island in Crater, called Wizard Island was formed by small volcanic eruptions that occurred after the Crater Lake caldera formed but before the volcano went extinct.

Wizard Island is a real-life volcanic cinder cone which forms an island at the west end of Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. The top of the island reaches 6,933 feet (2,113 m) above sea level, about 755 feet (230 m) above the average surface of the lake. The cone is capped by a volcanic crater about 500 feet (150 m) wide and 100 feet (30 m) deep. The crater was named the "Witches Cauldron" by Will G. Steel in 1885, who also gave Wizard Island its name at the same time. The land area of the island is 315.85 acres (127.82 ha).
Wizard Island is not an active volcanic island. It is a volcanic cinder cone that formed within the caldera of Crater Lake in Oregon, United States. The last known eruption of Wizard Island occurred over 7,300 years ago.

There is no evidence to suggest that a crater hit Easter Island. The island's unique moai statues may have been moved and erected by the Rapa Nui people rather than being the result of a crater impact.

Crater Lake, Oregon. It is almost 2000 feet deep in one area, sitting at about 6000 feet high. Crater Lake was formed by a volcano that formed a crater. Crater Lake receives tons of snow-about 10 feet sometimes! Crater Lake is fairly large and totally reflective. Some people go down to it's shores and swim a little, for about 10 seconds at a time due to the water being extremely cold. Being in the water for a few minutes can cause severe hypothermia. A little island sits in Crater Lake called Wizard island.
yes it is because it spits out fumes that prove it is active
