I think it's not because it technically isn't a sea. Due to the fact the Sargasso sea is not bound by any land or shore line. Seems by reading the termed was coined in the early days of European explorers because the vast and huge amount of the seaweed found there. Guess the name just stuck but failed to be acknowledged by any newer maps, atlases PR globes that I've seen
