So basically it "opened" our eyes to the Medieval world
The person that controlled the medieval castles were the kings and queens. But the king and queen didn't like living in the castle for it was to crowded, so they would put the baron in charge while they were in their manor.
A medieval castle was very complex with many parts. There was a dungeon (dark cell underground), donjon (tower), gatehouse (main entrance with a guard), and a hoarding (gallery with floor slats to drop objects).
