Icefish, belonging to the family Channichthyidae, typically range in size from about 10 to 30 inches (25 to 76 centimeters) in length, depending on the species. Some larger species can grow even bigger, reaching up to 40 inches (over 100 centimeters). They are most commonly found in the cold waters of the Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica. Their size and unique adaptations allow them to thrive in extreme cold environments.
Mackerel icefish was created in 1905.
