Hi there! I'm a teenager (14) myself so I thought I could share my comments
of how I would like my parents to behave, even though this is not always fulfilled.
I would like parents who doesn't treat me differently by age but
by maturity. A parent who lets me have freedom and live my own life,
a parent who takes my feelings into account instead of telling me that
I'm silly/overreacting and throw me into a room. We don't want to be treated
as your tools or dollies. We have the same urge for being
taken into account just as you have. Express your love
but keep the extra-cute comments away when we're having friends nearby.
Depending on the genetics you've transfered to your teenager, he/she
will be differently vulnerable of nasty langue provoked by socializing.
This should also be a matter of how you've raised your child. If he/she
starts copycating bad langue you might not only want to tell your child to stop,
but aswell explaining why he/she shouldn't be using such a langue, and do it with respect!
Teenagers can be expensive as you might be aware of, most of us will problaby want a fuctioning computer at hand, again, depending on how you've raised us.
Oh, and as we grow we'll want more space! If your child gets interested in porn I wouldn't try to stop him/her. Let your child experience it and decide if he/she
likes it or not. But be sure to in some sneaky way get your child to know that
the content in porn sites are often showing inhuman content, women seeming
like objects made for using.
Don't go wild over every little mistake we make aswell. Like how we forgot to throw that trash by the way to scool. Or how we didn't wash today.
