Haha, that's funny. Right now I'm doing the exact same question in my science class. But the answer is because there are no living cells in that object. It depends on the cells to classify if the object is alive or not, and the cells are not alive. The only way cells are alive, is if they reproduce/produce from other,,,living cells. Hope it helped!(:
