Lupita is a diminutive for Lupe, nickname of the actress Lupe Velez who tragically died in l944. This was something of the Marilyn Monroe death scandal of its time and was only overshadowed by the Global War- (World War II) not at all directly connected with the War, she overdosed on sleep medications( as did Monroe) there were some similarities to the later Landis Suicide. ( the actress, not the Judge!) Because of this tragic background- well it kind of works against a Lupe Velez doll. I have never heard of one. Likewise, Hobby manufacturers avoided making models of the Lockheed Electra Model l0 as they felt this was too morbid ( Amelia"s mount). so it goes. On the other hand Titanic collectible items and Marilyn Monroe dolls, etc are quite common.
