A bunch of stuff - residents of Metru Nui discover that Mata Nui is not only sleeping, but is dying. The turaga send the Toa Nuva to get the mask of life, Mata Nui's only hope of survival, in Voya Nui. They are captured by the Piraka, a gang of Skakdi, causing a group of matoran to go look for them. They become the Toa Inika, who fight off the Piraka and free the Toa Nuva. The Inika and Piraka then descend to retrieve the Inika, where they face its guardians in battle.
