A basilect is a variety of language which has diverged greatly from the standard form, and is only suitable for very informal context by speakers.
In creole linguistics, mesolect refers to the intermediate variety of a creole language, basilect refers to the most informal or vernacular variety, and acrolect refers to the most prestigious or formal variety. These terms are used to describe the range of linguistic variation within a creole community.
Acrolect refers to the most formal and prestigious form of speech. It actually refers to the language of the power: politicians Mesolect refers to intermediate variety. We may say the variety spoken by private sector in a respective country. Basilect refers to most colloquial and least prestigious form of speech. It is spoken by ordinary people like me.
