A Bathosphere and a diving bell. The first deep sea exploring vessels were in the shape of a bell and were open on the bottom just like a bell. They weren't able to go as low as we can now because there was no protection from increased pressure. They were lowered into the sea by a cable and had fresh air pumped into it. There was also a radio line so the people inside could talk to the people on the ship.

In a crossing situation, the vessel that must maintain its course and speed (Vessel B) is referred to as the "stand-on vessel." This vessel is required to continue on its current path while the other vessel (the give-way vessel) is expected to take action to avoid a collision. The stand-on vessel has the right of way under maritime navigation rules.

If sail boats a and b are approaching each other with the wind on different sides why is vessel a considered the give way vessel?

In sailing, when two vessels are approaching each other and the wind is on different sides, the vessel on the starboard tack (wind coming over the right side) has the right of way. If vessel A is on a port tack (wind on the left side) while vessel B is on a starboard tack, vessel A must give way to vessel B. This rule is part of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs) to ensure safety and prevent collisions.
