Promise or your word.

never make a promise you can't keep.
Promise or your word.
I'm not sure on the exact definition, but here's my take on it: They keep to their word... i.e If a promise is made, they keep to it.
If you don't keep a promise, it may make someone not trust you. If you made a promise to a friend saying you'll go shopping with her, or whatever, at least tell her when you can't show. Always follow through on your word.
This phrase means that one is honest, trustworthy, that they can keep a promise, their "word is as good as gold."
what is another word for promise? A vow or an oath
promise = 'ōlelo pa'a
I would say no. Here's why. If I make a promise to somebody, then I want them to trust me. The only way they will trust me is if I keep my word to them. Having said that, if you talk to the boy and try to get him to say it would be okay for you to tell your friend, or to maybe drop hints to your friend that he likes her, that'd be ok. That's just my opinion. I do know how hard it is to keep that kind of secret, though! Good luck!
The official Luhya word for the English somebody is "mtu."
