As of my last update, there is no official announcement regarding a ninth edition of Warhammer. The current editions of Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 have been recently updated, with 40,000's 9th edition released in July 2020. For the latest news, it's best to check the official Games Workshop website or their social media channels.

Yes, there will be a 6th Edition. Rumours say as early as July.
Yes.
Warhammer 40,000 was started by Rick Priestly in 1987 as the futuristic companion to Warhammer Fantasy. As of 2008, it has been around for 21 years, and is currently in it's 5th edition of core rules.
In the 9th edition of Warhammer 40k, there have been changes to the shooting rules that include new modifiers for cover, changes to the way line of sight works, and adjustments to how certain weapons interact with different targets.

Yes it is.
In the 8th edition of Warhammer 40k, new Warlord Traits were introduced that provide unique abilities and bonuses to the Warlord character. These traits vary depending on the faction and can enhance their leadership, combat skills, or strategic abilities on the battlefield.
In the 7th edition of Warhammer 40k, the specific changes to the fleet rule include allowing units with the fleet special rule to re-roll their charge distance, making them more effective in close combat situations.
The older codexs are compatible with 5th edition. Some armies lost a bit of their usefulness with some rules being dropped, while some got better.
