Pierre Esprit Radisson was a French explorer and fur trader who significantly contributed to the development of New France in the 17th century. He played a crucial role in expanding the fur trade by exploring the interior of North America, particularly the regions around the Great Lakes and Hudson Bay. Radisson's alliances with Indigenous peoples helped establish trade routes and foster relationships that were vital for the economic success of New France. A courrier de bois was a runner of the woods. They ran through the woods collecting and trading furs. Being a courrier de bois was illegal. Pierre Esprit Radisson was the courrier de bois that had the biggest impact on New France. He went to the area that was later known as Ruperts Land and found many furs there. He went back to New France to tell everyone about that area but they didn't care and threw him and i think his brother who helped him into jail. They also took all of his furs. When they got out his brother stayed there but he went to the English and told them. They English were interested and went there. They named the place Ruperts Land which was the Hudsons Bay company. If the French didn't put him in jail, France probably would have won Canada.
