He passed away April 15th 1999...Rhoads, William A. April 20, 1999RHOADS, William A.William A. Rhoads, 79, of Highview Terrace, New Hartford, died Thursday (April 15, 1999) at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Nowata, OK, and grew up in San Diego, CA. He was a music educator in Los Angeles for 15 years and a music manufacturer's rep for seven years before moving to Connecticut in 1969, where he was a band director in Regional School District 15 until his retirement in 1992. He served in the Army Air Force as a clarinet/sax player in the live radio unit in Santa Ana, CA during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Annette; his sons, Daniel Rhoads and Paul Rhoads and their families of Torrington; son, Douglas Rhoads and daughter, Kathy Dargenzio and families of Burbank, CA; four grandchildren, Alisa, Nicholas, and Jenna Dargenzio of Burbank, CA, and Jordan Rhoads, son of Paul Rhoads; a brother, Eugene Rhoads of Sonora, CA. He was predeceased by a brother, Leland Rhoads of San Diego, CA; and a son, Randy Rhoads, of Burbank, CA. He was a beloved and active member of the family of God at the Church of Christ in Winsted. A memorial service will be held May 1, 1999, 1 p.m., at the Church of Christ, 800 Main Street, Winsted. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Church of Christ Music Department.
