Daniel Lee arrived in Oregon in 1846 as part of the westward expansion during the Oregon Trail migration. He was among the many settlers seeking new opportunities in the fertile lands of the Oregon Territory. His journey was part of a larger movement of families and individuals looking for a better life in the West.
the missionaries came from 1780-90, but fur trappers got there ever since Americans knew of it's extistense, so in the early 1600's, there were people that came from new england to make a fortune off the giant beaver, deer, fox, coyote, brown bear, black bear, and especially grizzly bears. The first people with farming intentions were there in the early 1800's.
I am certain it was - the mountain men / fur trappers.

The primary cause of death among tobacco-growing settlers was nicotine poisoning. These settlers ingested too much nicotine, and they got sick and died.
The Oregon Trail was primarily traveled by settlers and pioneers moving westward in the 19th century, but it also traversed lands inhabited by various Native American tribes. Key tribes in the region included the Nez Perce, Shoshone, and Cayuse, among others. These tribes had their own cultures, languages, and territories, and their interactions with the settlers varied from trade to conflict as the influx of settlers impacted their traditional ways of life. The trail's history reflects the complex dynamics between indigenous peoples and westward expansion.
