John Tyler (term 1841-1845) and James K. Polk (term 1845-1849)
Yes- Polk settled disputes over the boundary of the Oregon territory with Britain and disputes with Mexico over Texas and California and the land between.
The border argument before the Mexican-American war was over which river divided Mexico from Texas. The Americans claimed that it was the Colorado river, but that was not the case. The Americans crossed into Mexico and were fired upon. America then declared war, this resulted in the Mexican-American war which was won by America and as a result took much more land.
The Mexican war started over boundary disputes between the United States and Mexico. The Mexicans claimed that the boundary lied near corpus Christi and the U.S claimed it was the Rio Grande.
The dispute over where the Oregon boundary was located was between the United States and Great Britain. They were in disagreement on where the boarder between Oregon and Canada should be drawn.
Between Great Britain and the USA
The meandering nature of the Rio Grande makes it an unsatisfactory boundary between the U.S. and Mexico because the river's shifting course can lead to disputes over territory and jurisdiction. As the river changes shape over time, land that was once on one side may shift to the other, complicating legal and administrative issues. Additionally, natural alterations due to erosion or sediment deposition can cause confusion regarding the border, leading to potential conflicts between the two nations.
When the U.S. and Mexico could not agree on the boundary between Mexico and Texas, tensions escalated, ultimately leading to the Mexican-American War in 1846. The dispute primarily centered around whether the Rio Grande or the Nueces River should serve as the border. Following the war, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848 established the Rio Grande as the official boundary, resulting in significant territorial gains for the United States. This conflict intensified the debate over slavery in the newly acquired territories, contributing to the sectional tensions leading up to the Civil War.
It was between Great Britain and of course the United States.
