While there may be occasional reports of them in the northern parts of their range, such as southern Indiana or Illinois, they are not typically found in Ohio's ecosystems. Instead, Ohio is home to other snake species, including non-venomous water snakes.

We have a huge creek in our town and there is a lot of water moccasins that live in there we have killed and caught them over the years. I know this to be true because we called animal control and it was a water moccasin!!
