It's unusual to see whales off the coast of Wales- the water is too shallow, a more common site are harmless sharks such as the basking shark, the porbeagle and the huge but completley docile whale shark (a plankton feeder).

It has occasionally beem known for baby fin whales and beluga whales to get washed ashore during navigational errors, but this is very uncommon. When it does happen, it's usually noticed before the animal gets into serious trouble- they are usually hosed down by the fire brigade to keep their skin wet, and either towed or airlifted to safety by the coastguard as son as is possible.

Welsh coastal waters are not deep, so whales tend in general to use their natural 'sonar' to avoid them.
