Yes they can, however, Boer goats are generally larger than pygmy goats. So it is recommended to breed a female Boer to a male Pygmy. If it is the other way around, stay close to the female when she is giving birth as she may need your assistance.
Yes you would get a boer pygmy
If you are talking in terms of crossing different breeds of goats, then you can cross any two breeds of goat. The cross of an Angora goat and a Pygmy is called a Pygora. Crossing a Nubian and a Pygmy will result in a Kinder goat. Also, there are many crosses that don't have specific names. For example, I have Nubian/Boer goat crosses.

Yes
Any breed can be great for showing. I show boers and boer crosses because they are relatively cheap, but you can make money off of them and they have awesome personalities if they are used to being around people. My advice to you is to research various breeds depending on what area of the goat industry you are interested in whether it is meat, dairy, or fur. In addition, you could check on the American Boer Goat Association, International Boer Goat Association, American Dairy Goat Association, or other breed sites to see which kinds of goats have more shows in your area because your area may not have some for particular breeds. For example, there are at least 2 boer and dairy shows within an hour of me, but no pygmy.
