Compare different types of oil including synthetics?
No, using motor oil does not preserve wood.
If you're using mineral oil, 3000 miles is the rule of thumb. With synthetics, you really need to talk to a specialist, as the recommendations from OEMs and oil refiners differ with various synthetics and synthetic blends.
yes it is fine but of course synthetic is the best to use if you can. Double check your oil requirements with your owner's manual. If it states that normal oil is okay, then go ahead. If your owner's manual dictates Synthetics, then DO NOT switch.
Conventional motor oils have recommended 3,000-mile drain intervals. Synthetics motor oils have recommend 5,000 - 25,000-mile drain intervals.
Synthetic and conventional oil can be mixed and used with no problem. That is exactly what a synthetic blend that you can buy is. A mix of synthetic oil and conventional.
If your car has alot of miles on it, I would not recommend switching to synthetic oil. It might cause your car to develop alot of oil leaks. Synthetics are nice, but on a car that doesnt really need them, why pay through the nose for something you don't need?
Most manufacturers and synthetic oil companies recommend 7500 maintenence intervals with synthetic oil. However, not all "synthetic" oils are true synthetics so be aware of what type/brand of oil you are using. In addition if you drive mostly highway with very little stop and go, city driving you can easily go 10,000 miles between changes.
Castrol Syntec. I recommend when switching to synthetics from conventional, that you run a synthetic blend for 6,000 miles (two oil changes) then change to full synthetics. If you have no experience with changing oils (especially changing from conventional to synthetics) I do not recommend you attempt this.
20w50 Harley Davidson motor oil If you can't get H-D brand oil, you could use any brand 20w50. Stay away from synthetics. I stuck with H-D 20w50. Good luck!
A cars motor oil was measured and described using units of kelvin which charactoristic of matter was measured
NO, in fact just the opposite is true. Most synthetics are detergent blends. You can however buy a non detergent synthetics.
