In the Isle of Man Senior TT race, Norman Brown did indeed win his first appearance in it, but he also competed in the Junior TT race and Classic TT race in that year, which would have run before the Senior TT Race, which he came second and Did Not Finish in respectively.
It was also his only win at the TT, but not his only win on the island.
Norman Brown in fact died at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1983.
As of May 2010, Norman Wisdom is alive and well living on the Isle of Man.
