I am 6 weeks pregnant. My ex boyfriend was excited at first but then he changed his mind, and then he told me he wants to be in his child's life, we can share custody, but he will sign over his parental rights over to me so that he doesnt have to pay child support. Is that even legal? Can he do that just to avoid paying for child support? He already told me he won't sign the birth certificate. I have no idea what to do. I don't want to have an abortion, but i cant live like this either. My child deserves to know his father and i want to work things out with him and be a family, but he always changes his mind and its not fair to me. If anyone has any answers for me, please write them on here. Thank You in advance.

Giving up rights does not alter the fact that the child is his. If he gives them up so the child can be adopted, then he may be relieved of the payments.

If the father of a child gets married and owes back child support can the spouse be obligated to pay his back child support in CA?

An unmarried father cannot "choose" to not pay child support. The laws in every state require that a father pay for the support of his child. The mother must bring an action to the appropriate court so that a child support order can be established. Visitation rights are separate and a father can have visitation rights established by the court. Visitation rights are not dependent on paying child support.

If you live in Missouri and the pregnant mother of your unborn child moved to California from Missouri can you sign over rights and not pay child support?

Nothing can be done until the child is born and paternity is established. If the male is not willing to acknowledge he is the father a paternity test will be necessary, before any litigation pertaining to child support, custody, visitation rights or the relinquishment of parental rights is possible. However, the issue of the biological mother moving to another state is not necessarily relevant; all states honor and enforce child support and/or visitation orders issued in another state.
