Yes, the Russians plan to build a new station consisting of parts from the ISS called the OPESK station. The U.S also plans to buid a commercial space station called the Bigelow Commercial Space Station (BCSS) in 2014. The chineese also plan to build a space station as well.
Yes, there was.In fact it is the first shooting anywhere in history where a student perpetrated his own school shooting. On December 30 1974 a shooting happened at Olean High School in New York by Anthony Barbaro when he started shooting at people from outside and killed 3 and injured 11 others. However, since this had nothing to do with shooting his own school as much as the location it is considered a Class B shooting. School Shootings go back way before, in fact the 1903 Altona School House shooting was the first massive school shooting in Canadian History, however it was perpetrated by a teacher and not a student. There is evidence that the Brampton shooter Michael Slobodian who based on reports is either 15 or 16 (reports vary) was thought to been an isolated student and likely bullied as is common and typical with school shooters. He had tried getting into medical school (he was too young to apply to med. school) but depressions including his Grand Father dying a month before the shooting may have brought him lower. Then the Friday before the shooting it turned out someone stole his motorbike and destroyed it. Never heard that until here.He applied for the military likely hoping for medical positions as he wanted to get into medical school. The Saturday before the shooting he reportedly started taking an imaginary machine gun and acted like he was killing everyone at the party. The Monday before shooting, he is seen in the gymnasium trying to sell both of his rifles, one of which his father had given him for Christmas. (This is speculation)The next day, he gets a report that his Physics teacher Mr Bronson and English Teacher Margaret Wright had given him negative reports and his Physics teacher had even failed him. The reasons given is not known, however in most of his classes he was a student with an 80% average which is a low A average. Some say he had asked his Physics teacher to give him another chance and claimed he had stress but the Physics teacher did not allow it. It is a situation the Physics teacher would regret the rest of his life. What state of mind he was in can't be said since the psychiatrists he had seen have never openly declassified him, but is said he might have had Bipolar and possibly even multi-personality disorder. On the day of the shooting, he was in his first period class but when it ended he decided to go home to avoid his English and Physics teacher as he was still mad at them. He went to bed in his bedroom when suddenly his parents came up telling him his teachers called and his teachers and parents gave him a hard time over it. When his parents were downstairs not paying attention, he got up from his bed, got his guitar case and stuffed both rifles into his guitar case and went to his school looked around to make sure his teachers were still there, then ran back home and came back. He loaded up his guns in the washroom. Two students walked in and he held them hostage against the wall. They weren't hostages--they were using the bathroom and Michael shot all three of them. The hostage situation (was no hostage situation) is said to have lasted anywhere from a few moments to up to ten minutes. According to one of the people shot, just a few minutes. However at one point John Slinger wandered into the washroom, apparently one report says he had gotten his hands dirty in a science project and was on his way to clean them, which resulted in Slobodian aiming his rifle and fatally injured him with one shot. He was in the washroom when Slobodian went in.He then paced up, turned around and shot the two hostages, injuring both of them, one almost fatally. He took both rifles and kicked the washroom doors open. He fired both rifles off at once instantly where a crowd of 5 students happened to be standing and injured 3 more right away while the other 2 scattered. This is now around 11:35 AM. Several students are standing at their lockers only to be sniped down while he peered around corners. Teachers outside (? My art teacher paged the office via intercom, but we weren't outside) soon realised what was happening and told kids to back away because a sniper was in the school. Kids there however were too arrogant to listen and instead most actually ran inside the school because "they wanted to see the gunman." (Don't know of anyone who ran into the school "to see the gunman")Some kids crawled straight into the Art Classroom where Margaret Wright was, right at the moment Michael was coming in to kill her. (He shot her from the hall-she went to the door and that's where she was shot) He opened the door and walked straight up to her and shot her in the head at point blank range. He walked across the Art Room and smashed the windows open and shooting random stray bullets at people standing outside in the playground. There was no playground at BCSS and the windows in that room were more like ceiling height, but he didn't shoot through any windowsAfter he finished the shooting in the outside, he started shooting at those in the Art Room. He peered under desks shooting at anyone he saw. After he shot up the room he walked back out into the hallways. He stayed in the junction of the hallway. He proceeded to the cafeteria, (he didn't go to the cafeteria)nobody knows why as his teacher was located on the third floor but speculation is Michael might have thought he was a lunch supervisor that day and decided to go in that direction.Okay--there is a lot of erroneous information here. Slobodian left the washroom (after shooting three people) and turned right and walked into the junction of three hallways -- maybe 10 or 15 steps from the washroom door. He didN'T go outside. Just from the washroom and 10 or 15 steps to the right to a junction in hallways.Since this was the first major shooting in history, nobody knew how to react. Some teachers seeing the shooting was going on in another part of the school, told students near the cafeteria outside to go inside and eat their lunches quietly as a way to keep students calm. However, at that moment he loomed into the cafeteria and started shooting which caused more widespread panic across the school. NO HE DIDN"T -- he didn't go into the cafeteria. He did not move from the junction in the hallway -- 10 or 15 steps from the boy's washroom door. Didn't go into classrooms or the cafeteria...After the cafeterias was cleared he steadily began proceeding back towards the Art Room, occasionally firing another shot. The main massacre itself was only 4 minutes long. However as he got back into the Art Classroom, he looked around and saw people still squirming around under the desks. He walked up to his teacher. Since she was laying behind the desk nobody knows if she was dead or alive, but he shot another round hitting her in the back.He shot her from the hallway. He did not move from the junction in the hallway. He had two rifles and was shooting opposite directions with each rifle. He looked up the staircase said to be located near the room and fired at two students who were trying to run up. He didn't go anywhere near a staircase. As he moved up slowly gunshots from the outside started shooting and flying debris went, some of the bullets merely missed him. Two Policemen had arrived and were now preventing him from getting up the top floors where his Physics teacher was.He was dead before the police came in. He didn't look up any staircase. He stayed in the junction of the hallway. After he shot about 13 people (3 in the washroom, his English teacher in the classroom doorway close to the junction and numerous students, some in the art room and some running from him in the hallways), he killed himself in the junction of the hallway. He walked back down the staircase and then he shot himself. When the Police found him a while later, he was laying face down in a pool of blood, his nose was laying by the lockers and was reported that he was headless and only the back scalp remained intact. He wasn't walking around the school. He stayed in the junction of the hallway. It's true he did shoot himself in the head and killed himself. In the shooting he fatally injured John Slinger who died in a coma while in the Parking Lot before he even got to the hospital, his English Teacher Margaret Wright and himself. 21 people suffered some form of injured of which 13 were bullet related. Other people were injured from flying debris or by being stampeded on. I never heard of anyone being hurt in a stampde! Though there was some running once we realized what was happening! The shooting occurred on a Wednesday and to give students time for emotional stress and to allow police time to investigate the scene, the school remained closed for the rest of the week, but on Monday the following week it reopened. That's true. I was a student in the vicinity when the shooting happened and it wasn't as dramatic as this person makes it to be. It was, without a doubt, tragic but I don't know where the writer got the information. From the time he fired his first round to his suicide is said to have been within no more than 15 minutes. Over 150 rounds were fired, and 3 victims suffered head injuries and 2 were hit in the heart, which is impressive they all survived, since most that get hit in the heart or head don't, and had it gone with the odds, the death toll itself might have been like columbine, though almost as many injuries had been reported as at Columbine.Tougher Gun Laws made it harder for people under 18 to get a gun, however for a brief period there was no law against giving guns to adults no matter what state they are in. (Brampton is located in Ontario, a province in Canada). Given the inaccuracies above, I'd take what is written below with a healthy dose of salt. This lesson was learned a few months later. Robert Poulin was another mistreated individual bullied throughout his school years until he eventually became violent and suicidal. A girl by the name of Kim Rabot tried taking sympathy for him. What he thought about her is not known. Robert went to a high school in Ottawa name St. Pius X high school in Ottawa. Kim went to the Glebe Collegiate which was located near his new house for students with issues. Most of his bullies from St. Pius had known him from his elementary years. One incident is he is tied into the gymanisum and beaten badly and his teachers merely told the bullies to stop and go home, and the police did not want to intervene thinking it may just be an isolated incident that can't be proven. Another is he was chased around by bullies on vehicles since he had severe asthma, then when he collapsed from fatigue they took his glasses off and told him to read small print, when he couldn't they beat him until he lost consciousness. Robert like Michael and most shooters was a Straight A honour student like Anthony Barbaro. However his grades started declining due to severe bullyig and stress. One other incident reports a girl in that school played a mean joke on him when she acted like she loved him and she told him to lay his hands on her, then he did and as soon as she did she yelled for help and made it seem to everyone he tried raping her which got him a criminal offence by the police and much taunting and abuse from community members and students. Now it is getting into early September 1975. School is starting again. In the last year he had become obsessed with the incidents at Olean High School and Brampton Centennial. He now wanted to go down in his own blaze of glory. His birthday is speculated to have been within days before the shooting, since he complained of not being allowed to yet purchase a weapon as he was not 18, due to the recent law that was made after the Brampton Centennial Secondary School shooting a few months earlier. In late October he started getting troubled relationships with Kim Rabot and he realised for the first time in his school career he was not getting A's, but C's and even some F's. It was due to more severe bullying, the Friday before the shooting one of his bullies said if he thought his school years were bad, he should wait until he goes to University, as he has seen nothing yet. When time came, he tied Kim to his bed then raped and stabbed her to death, he then purchased his gun, likely said to be from Giant Tiger, since they were advertising free coupons that week. He bought a large amount of ammunition with it, and drove back to the front parking lot of St. Pius.He strolled around for several minutes walking around the library and cafeterias. The librarian thought he saw his rifle and was running off to tell the Principal, though back then people didn't overly panic over seeing a gun in a school. He kept a list of people, one first objective and secondary. first objectives were those he was determined to kill while those who got on secondary he would only shoot at if he saw them.He walked into his English classroom which at the time was overcrowded and kicked down the door screaming, some say frantically like a warhawk and then aimed his gun and fired one round. Instantly injuring one student fatally. He fired a second round which hit the student behind the fatal student who happened to be one of his main bullies. He kept firing, and then at one point stepped outside the classroom and happened to see the girl who framed him with another girl standing beside. They watched, and as he aimed his rifle they shrieked running back to another classroom where a teacher seeing what the commotion was opened his door, and two bullets flew by, one grazing his nose, and they flew through his classroom going out the windows.By this point lockdowns had been placed into practice but were far from what they are today. In this situations those who happened to be out in the hallway, whether to go to the office or get a drink of water, were locked out of their rooms and not allowed back in.So those in the hallways had to try to stay alive. One report is a student who was locked out tried running down a flight of stairs, only to hear stomping suddenly coming up the staircase, he described the shoes like military boots, as was what Robert wore during the shooting. He was briefly seen on the roof shooting at people at the theatre parking lot which is now the meadowlands mall.He did not hit anybody but he made a big scene causing people to gather around outside the school to hear the spectacle going on inside. He got back into his English/Religion classroom and started firing some more. Apparently the door had been damaged so it could not be closed, and many students now were in there, since many trapped in the hallways tried running in.As he fired he fractured one kid's nose and shot down the windows. He fired some more, hitting one student in his right shoulder. He moved further into the class and shot at random. One student panicked and he shot him. Another girl shrieked, and is said to have been one of his bullies from elementary years. He leaned down described like playing a game of pool and shot her in the face at point blank range. He got back up and walked slowly back near the exit, looked back into the class, aimed the gun at himself and shot himself. Ironically he like many other shooters like Michael Slobodian, Eric Harris, Kimveer Gill and Marc Lepine all were reportedly smart and tried getting into the military but were rejected due to mental and psychotic disorders.Robert Poulin's incident further influenced Canadian Gun Laws. The St. Pius shooting was only the second shooting perpetrated by a high school student against his classmates in Canada and the world. By mere coincidence the day he did it, was the day that Anthony Barbaro's trial for the Olean shooting proceeded though he also hanged himself in his cell a few days later. The Dawson College shooting is the only Canadian shooting site opened to public for investigators, however the St. Pius shooter has a book about him called Rape of a Normal Mind, which psychiatrists in 1977 wrote absed on what his Father and those who knew him said about Robert, allowing future research on serial killers and shooters. The Brampton Centennial School however is not an open place and like most Canadian shootings tries to be secretive about the issue but takes it to more extremes. The few people in fact who go to Brampton know of a murder in the washroom but don't know the body count or history behind the incident. Like most violent places that dealt with death, Brampton, like St. Pius and other schools like Columbine are reportedly haunted. In Columbine the libraries and the bottom stairways near the cafeteria have been reportedly sighting ghosts, near the bottom stairways Dylan and Eric's ghosts have been reported by a few people. In St. Pius the Ghost of Robert Poulin has been seen looking out the windows of the school at night and loud stomping can still be heard when nobody else is around, the ghost of the student who died a month later that he killed has had drops falling on the scene of the murder and the loud voices of a girl shrieking said to be the ghost of Kim Rabot is reportedly said to reenact her murder even though she died many miles from the school and did not even attend. In Brampton however the ghost of John Slinger has been seen walking into the washroom then disappearing, the ghost of Margaret Wright has been seen behind her desk in the art classroom and the ghost of Michael Slobodian though a rare sighting has been seen all over the bottom floor where most of the shooting occurred but is almost always seen the spot of his death too. This is a bit far-fetched! Bit of artistic license here! Not to go off topic but for people who ask why and what scientifically makes a ghost haunt the place of a murder is because energy can't be destroyed so even if you die, your energy is still there, and since energy can't recontribute your energy stays virtually the same even after death making your appearance never change. Also, scenes of horrific murders cause much emotions, pain, fear and agony making more energy thus increasing the chances of a haunting. Now to further speak, it has been shown that the idea of shooters taking their targets out at random is a myth. Though the shooters sometimes do kill people they did not plan to, in reality shooters are after people they feel have done wrong to them. And if you are shot but were not his target, either it was accidental, you got into his line of fire or he thought you were getting in the way or stopping him from getting his victims.Well I think I've covered quite enough here, please feel free to contribute at will.
