There is not a great deal that you can do as an individual to a country like Japan they have demonstrated their indifference to world opinion for many years, The only thing you can do is stop purchasing things made by them and encourage your friends to do the same. And let as many of them as possible know what you are doing. If enough people start doing this you will make a difference

There are a lot of things you can do to help end these slaughters, and there are a number of conservation groups trying to do just that! Spread the word! that is one of the most important things you can do.
Another thing you can do is help with the effort to spread the word among the Japanese people. In most cases the Japanese have no idea that these slaughters are happening.
Plan a screening of "the Cove" to help get the word out. Plan a fundraiser. Team up with savejapandolphins.org or Sea Shepherd. Both organizations are on the ground in Japan trying to stop this brutality!
In fact, this year Japan ended it's annual whaling season in Antarctica due to pressure from Sea Shepherd. The coastal dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan have also ended early this year.
