Maui dolphins, or Hector's dolphins, typically dive to depths of about 30 to 50 meters (98 to 164 feet) in search of food, primarily small fish and invertebrates. However, they are not known for deep diving like some other dolphin species. Their dives are usually short, lasting around 5 to 10 minutes before they resurface for air. Conservation efforts are crucial for their survival, as they are critically endangered and face threats from fishing and habitat loss.
