There are several versions of how the road got its name. One version claims there was a massacre of first nations people at a creek near the top of the road. Another claims there were two native men hanging from a tree at the top of the road. No matter how the road got its name, it is offensive and needs to be changed. There is a petition on change .org right now to change the name back to an earlier name "Indian Market Road".
