James Robertson, a key figure in the early settlement of Nashville, arrived in the area in 1779. He was part of a group of settlers who traveled down the Cumberland River from the Watauga Association in present-day Tennessee. Robertson, along with other pioneers, sought new opportunities in the fertile lands of the region, leading to the establishment of Fort Nashborough, which later evolved into Nashville. His leadership and vision were instrumental in the growth of the settlement.
