There is no record of a Palestinian state or people before 1947. However, there were large numbers of Arabs in Israel who had flocked to Israel once Jews began developing the country in the 19th century. Surrounding Arab countries reacted with violence to the creation of the State of Israel and five Arab nations immediately attacked Israel. Before doing so, and confident they would wipe the nascent state off the map before it had put together an army, they warned Arabs living in Israel to flee and then return when the Jews had been destroyed. Fortunately, the Arabs lost.

Palestinians were outraged and greatly saddened by the creation of the State of Israel because they believed that the land that had physically belonged to their parents and grandparents should have been theirs for inheritance. In their minds, it did not make sense that a group of German, Polish, French, English, and Russian speaking people should claim land that their ancestors had not even visited for centuries. Some formed militias such as the Holy War Army and the Arab Liberation Army to oppose the nascent Israeli forces, some assisted Arab armies entering the area, and a vast number fled in fear or coercion or recommendation to neighboring countries.

There was a minority of Palestinians that supported the State of Israel, primarily as guarantors of safe-passage for the Jewish Militias and, later, the Israeli Defense Forces.

Well, the creation of Israel had an astounding effect on the whole Middle East. Directly, it affected the people of Palestine, who were kicked out of their homes and forced to flee the country. It also affected Jews in Arab countries who similarly were required to flee to Israel from their homes. Indirectly, the countries around Israel saw a huge influx in refugees and a similar exodus of emigrants, and a reasonable hatred towards the invaders. Of course, this tension then led to war, and the defeat of the Arab states in the six day war. Although the Arabs lost almost no land, their morale lowered in response to the loss. Currently, the Arab economy does not rely on Israel at all, and many of the countries there (like Syria and Iran) still boycott Israel to this day. While Jordan and Egypt have more relations with Israel, many Arabs feel that they will never coexist with Israel. In addition, millions of Palestinians still live in ghetto like areas called 'the Palestinian territories' which have conflicts with Israel many times a year.To be blunt, if Israel were say to get into a war with Iran, I foresee a joint attack from Lebanon, Syria, the territories, and Iran. If that doesn't prove the resentment between Israel and its neighbors, then I don't know what does. Regardless, Israel has no need to fear, as the United States will always protect its satellite state no matter the cost.
